Psalm 147:1-11
The psalm is a tribute to the restoration of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile. God is praised for all the good He is doing for His people. Even though the people failed to live up to God’s expectations, He continues to love them and restore them by protecting them against their wicked oppressors. The people are encouraged to bow down in worship to God. Praise the Lord! How good it is to sing praises to our God; for he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting. Psalm 147:1
The psalmist gives a beautiful analogy of nature. During the frequent, destructive storms and antics of nature, it becomes difficult to understand why these things happen. And it is more difficult to accept the usual answer that God has a reason for allowing it. But, just as a harsh winter is followed by the warmth and revival of springtime, life goes on. Our faith in God gives us the desire to live for Him and to help those who are in need, both spiritually and physically.
How do you explain God’s reason for allowing disasters?
