42 hour Intercessory prayer for "Journey to Bethany"

All human souls are inter-connected in God, the source of life and creator of all. We can pray for each other, we can rejoice with each other and we can suffer with and for each other.

Nothing is more real than this inter-connection, this power put by God into the very heart of our humanness. If we truly believe that secret, intercessory prayer can touch another's soul in and through the being of God and if we believe that our prayers can be used by God to affect the life of that other person in a positive and powerful way, then we can truly say "I believe in intercessory prayer!"

The greatest forward movements spiritually have been those movements built and sustained by prayer - intercessory prayer. There is nothing more powerful nor more pleasing to God than one human being holding another human being up to God in prayer.

When we pray, persistently and sincerely for another person, we somehow "open the gate" for that person to receive whatever it is at that moment that God perceives they need the most. We lower that person's conscious or unconscious resistance to God. We are lovingly inviting that person to be open to God. We are in no way compelling or coercing another against their will - that is impossible. We are simply nudging or lovingly inviting that person to be open to receive from God.

We believe that something will happen when we pray that would never have happened had we not prayed. Intercessory prayer is absolutely essential to the Christian life. Mark it well!

The more we pray for another person, the more it opens us to God's will in our own lives. As we become serious about intercessory prayer we realize that it is a costly involvement. We find it more and more difficult to ask for changes in the lives of others without a willingness to surrender to God those areas of our own lives that need changing.

True intercessory prayer lowers the resistance to divine intervention in our own lives as well as the lives of those for whom we pray.
